At the corner of Decatur Street and Central Avenue a new a five story, 35,000 sf project that will connect to both the original building built in 1968 and a first phase addition that was completed in 2010. The Phase II expansion includes: a large tiered lecture room and computer labs on the first floor. Floors two through five include; chemistry labs, biology labs and lab prep space. This structure also provides a new monumental entrance to the Classroom South Building replacing the courtyard.
The scope of this project was to move the GSU ROTC program from their previous offices in the Courland Building to new offices in the GSU Stadium as the Courtland building had to be evacuated due to the Courtland Street Bridge project by GDOT. The ROTC suite, as it is located on the Service Level of the stadium had to have a rain screen roof system built over the suite, complete with a drainage system for the water that drains through the precast concrete bleachers. The suite is approximately 11,600 square feet that provide; faculty offices, conference room, student classrooms,a computer training room, a student break area, locker rooms and a large storage room to house all of the ROTC programs uniforms and training equipment, along with various other support rooms.
